If your hair is particularly thin, you are subject to some restrictions when styling it. It reacts quickly to heat and breaks and strong chemicals (e.g. dyes) should not be part of the daily routine. To determine whether your hair is already considered thin, all you need to do is test it by touching it: an above-average soft feeling or very frequent knots are indications of thin hair.
SCIENCE THAT CREATES KNOWLEDGE: WHEN IS THIN HAIR REALLY THIN?
In fact, there is a standard for thin hair. A normally structured hair shaft usually has a diameter of 0.05 to 0.07 mm. Doctors and scientists speak of thin hair when it is only 0.04 mm or less. So don't let the first impression deceive you: blonde and generally light hair inherently appears thinner and "less" than darker colors. If in doubt, a hair analysis can help.
Fine hair should not be confused with hair loss: While fine and thin hair can be present in very high frequency (and therefore high density), hair loss actually describes areas on the scalp where no hair grows. This can be androgenetic alopecia, age-related receding hairline or hereditary hair loss in early adulthood.
IDENTIFY THE CAUSE, FIND A SOLUTION: DECLARE THIN HAIR!
The ideal countermeasures are based on precise knowledge of what is responsible for the structure of your hair. Medications can cause thinning, as can hormonal changes; for example during pregnancy. You should also not ignore unfavorable eating habits or a possible nutrient deficiency (silicon, certain trace elements, amino acids or even vitamin D). In many cases, a more balanced and healthy diet works wonders and significantly improves the hair structure after just a few months.
If the problem is caused by taking medication, you should also think of a temporary solution. A good way to bridge this phase is with a volumizing shampoo. It lifts your hair at the roots, creating a thicker look. Applied once a day, your hair will appear significantly fuller with the appropriate powder or dry shampoo. If you want to dye your hair darker to make it appear fuller, first analyze whether you can subject your hair to this chemical process.
Alternatively, with a little craftsmanship you can conjure up chic hairstyles in a short time. A short layered cut from the hairdresser will give you more fullness, as will a double ponytail in front of your own mirror. There are a lot of tricks that can successfully combat your thin hair.
ALL-ROUND CARE: HOW TO GIVE MORE LIFE BACK TO FINE HAIR
Although individual care measures are advisable, they are far more effective if all your care products complement each other optimally and continuously. That's why you'll find specially put together care sets for particularly fine hair in our shop, consisting of a shampoo and a conditioner. You can expand these basic components with any products: such as a nourishing volume foam, hair oil (in moderation, but more often) or a thickening spray as leave-in care. A serum to stimulate hair growth is also conceivable: it stimulates the roots and is able to accelerate the formation of new follicles.
Your care measures have to be right – from the hairline to the tips. You should avoid too much heat; However, blow-drying upside down at a low temperature is definitely recommended as it gives your roots stability. Ultimately, the choice of brush is also a crucial criterion that rounds off your care procedure.
