HAIR CARE IN SUMMER: THE PERFECT PROTECTION IN THE HOT SEASON

In the summer we go to the swimming pool and the sea , we do a nice hairstyle when we go out and because of the heat we take a shower every day. It is conceivable that all of this puts a lot of strain on the hair. Luckily, summer hair care isn't that difficult.

CARE FOR HAIR IN SUMMER: WHICH PRODUCTS ARE SUITABLE

Basically, the same rules apply in summer as always: apply as little artificial heat as possible to your hair from a hairdryer or straightener and don't rub it too hard with a towel after washing so as not to cause mechanical damage. However, the hair is subjected to significantly more stress in summer than in the cold season, which is why you should give more space to care.

The most important thing in summer is the supply of moisture - not only for your body, but also for your hair. Sunlight, salt water and chlorine remove a lot of important moisture, which can lead to dull, brittle and dull hair. Therefore, use special moisturizing masks and conditioners that preserve the hair's natural protective layer and hydrate it.

Products that contain substances such as panthenol, keratin or aloe vera are particularly suitable for hair care. This applies to shampoo as well as conditioners and hair treatments. Regenerating oils such as macadamia, almond or argan oil are also useful. They contain vitamins and antioxidants that strengthen hair and make it more resilient.

HOW CAN I STYLE MY HAIR IN SUMMER?

Hardly anyone wants to expose themselves to the heat that arises under long hair in summer. However, hairstyles that are too strict are not good for the hair, especially when it is still wet - then it can easily break. Instead, opt for a loose braided hairstyle with a spiral elastic or a large clip instead of tying yourself in a strict bun.

If you have discovered split ends in your hair, it makes sense to have the ends trimmed before you go on summer vacation so that the sun and water don't cause them to break further. The exact opposite applies to a new hair color: It's better to dye your hair after your vacation, because the UV radiation and the chlorine water will cause it to fade faster than you can show it to your friends.

THE SUN IS THE ENEMY OF HEALTHY HAIR

Luckily, hair doesn't get sunburned - but direct sunlight is still not safe. UV radiation can break down proteins and fats in the hair, weakening the inner layer of the hair. The hair structure changes and the hair becomes dull and brittle.

The first best sun protection is of course headgear such as a baseball cap or a sun hat. You can also use a regenerative hair treatment or conditioner that is as rich as possible in the evening to restore moisture to your hair and help it recover. There are after-sun hair products specifically designed for the sun.

AGAINST SALT AND CHLORINE: PROTECT HAIR WHILE SWIMMING

Water can also damage your hair. It becomes particularly dangerous after a bath in salt water if your hair dries in the air and the salt crystallizes. The crystals then act almost like magnifying glasses and damage the hair structure. So rinse your hair well after every swim in the sea. You can also moisten them with fresh water before bathing, because then their structure changes and they cannot absorb as much salt as when they are dry.

The same applies to chlorine, which is found in many swimming pools or hotel pools. There it kills the bacteria and is therefore of important importance. However, chlorine is also a bleaching agent - and that's exactly how it affects your hair. Chlorine destroys the coloring pigments in the hair, making it dull and weakening. If your hair is bleached or colored differently, it can even have an unpleasant green tint.

Luckily, there are chlorine-neutralizing care products that you can use after bathing in chlorine water. Aspirin tablets dissolved in water can be used as a home remedy to combat the green cast. However, use a nourishing hair treatment afterwards so that the acetylsalicylic acid in the aspirin does not put additional strain on the hair.
